About me
After several years of studying micromechanics, my 1977 meeting with Jacques CHAMBON*, the legendary French oboe virtuoso, was a decisive turning point in my professional life. I was introduced to the world of music and discovered the “mechanics of musical instruments” with the famous “SELMER” instrument maker.
Under the guidance of my mentor, I learned to “sense” the subtle adjustments the oboe requires in order to allow the player a perfect mastery of the instrument.
After this training in woodwind instrument repairs, I specialised in double-reed instruments (oboe and bassoon). Having worked at SELMER and L’OLIFANT in Paris, I then built up more than 30 years of experience with SERVETTE MUSIC, the leading supplier of musical instruments in Geneva.
I can now look back on more than 47 years of making available my know-how and craftsmanship to local and international musicians, amateurs and professionals alike.
My profession has allowed me to meet some truly remarkable people and artists, and to make some great friendships. It has been an honour and a real satisfaction to make even a small contribution by allowing musicians to go on stage fully confident that their instruments will allow them to play magnificent music for us all !
The time has come for me to retire, but the adventure continues solo with ”L’atelier.repair” (“The repair shop”). And today I want to “pass on” to double-reed players the basics for simple and effective adjustments and minor repairs. I am now at the disposal of all the teachers and/or musicians wishing to better understand their instrument to be able to resolve themselves the more frequent mechanical problems that arise.
I look forward to meeting you,
Patrick ELLE
